Avuncular Test

The term "avuncular" refers specifically to anything related to an uncle. An avuncular DNA test accurately examines the genetic makeup of a child and another person to determine if they are the biological uncle or aunt.

These tests are often used to confirm paternity when the alleged father is either unavailable or unwilling to undergo testing.

It is commonly understood that people inherit half of their genetic material from their father and the other half from their mother. However, it is less commonly known that siblings also share half of their genetic material. An avuncular DNA test effectively assesses whether a child’s paternal genes match those of an uncle or aunt. If the lab results indicate a 99% probability or higher of an aunt/uncle relationship, the results are deemed conclusive.
